Does travel broaden the mind? Definitely; but I think adventure broadens it more.
When I book a holiday I’m always booking an adventure; travel around the world has become amazingly easy these days. From air miles giving you free flights; to a simple 8-hour night flight to the Caribbean where you wake up in 30 degrees and beautiful sunshine.
When I was a child I always used to get a sense of excitement as soon as I got to the airport, flying off into the world of unknown. With the advancements of the internet, even an adventure can be planned with a little more certainty.
To me, the travel is part of the holiday. My next adventure booked is the Philippines, from London to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to Manila and then a small plane to an airport just off the island of Boracay.
I have always liked the phrase ‘fear of the unknown is only fear of fear itself’
It’s a short trip from the airport to the boat to our villa but you can guarantee the local transport will be fun. The island is so small the main type of transport is a tuk-tuk. Around 500m at the widest point it might even be worth walking to the boat, but as i said I’ve always loved an adventure.
So in 8 month’s time, I will post an update of my adventures in the Philippines.
