There’s a familiar smell that sun cream has when you open the lid memories of holidays come flooding back.
Since my last holiday, I haven’t actually stopped wearing sun cream on my face; before you say anything, I know… it’s 2 degrees and chucking it down with rain!
Method To My Madness – I Promise
A few days after I got home from holiday I caught the end of a TV program on beauty myths. In the program, they were discussing the best way to get rid of cellulite; with my attention captured I decided to watch it all to see what else they were going to be testing.
About halfway through the documentary, they started to look at anti-ageing products. Although I’m only 26, I’m fully aware that it’s already 1 year into the time where my skin starts to age.
The program went on to discuss how your everyday products from high street brands which don’t necessarily have the facility to smooth out wrinkles like we all hope. The experiments proved that many of these products (across all prices) appear to hydrate the skin enough to give the appearance of smoother skin without actually removing the wrinkles.
They did, however, look at a particular chemical which can be found in prescribed skincare products, these do have the ability to get rid of fine lines. The reason the products must be prescribed, like Environ AVST range, is the dose of the chemical/vitamin must slowly be increased otherwise it may be too intense for the skin.
Anyway! The TV show went on to look at the causes of wrinkles and how we can prevent them in the first place. It turns out one of the biggest causes of wrinkles is the sun; it’s not even squinting at the sun, it’s the UVA and UVB rays that have the effect.
Why Sun Cream Helps
Although it may not look like we get many UVA and UVB rays on a cloudy day, we do and it’s not just from the sun…As we spend more and more time in front of PC’s, phones, tablets and TV’s our skin is being exposed to more harmful rays. It may appear that these all emit very small quantities of UV, it’s thought that over time the damage slowly builds up.
Wearing a good quality, non-oily sun cream under your makeup daily could help reduce skin damage, wrinkles and skin cancer.
It’s hard to choose a sun cream that you can really trust; for years I’ve been a loyal Clarins fan; I wouldn’t leave the country without it. Since moving over to Jane Iredale makeup and Environ moisturisers I’ve been trying out the sun creams. This Christmas I took 4 bottles of Clarins to Mauritius and one bottle of Environ’s RAD.
I always get millions of freckles on my face when I’m in the sun, there’s no escaping it, but this Christmas was different! This Christmas I used RAD, not once did my face burn! My partner used Clarins on his face and didn’t always re-apply when he should, only to realise when it’s too late. I also forgot on several occasions but found I didn’t suffer burns like I would normally.
The RAD doesn’t feel greasy in any way which is why I love putting it on under my makeup. It sinks into the skin really quickly and leaves you looking really healthy.
Since Using RAD Daily
I’d been using RAD for about a month every morning; I started getting comments on how clear my skin was; it’s amazing how many commented on it so I shared my secret with my mum. Even she’d seen how it was smooth and healthy looking and wondered what was different.
A few days later I immediately noticed my mums face also looked smoother, healthier and fewer wrinkels (sorry mum). I suspect the RAD sun location adds an additional boost of hydration to the skin; causing it to appear smoother.
When I looked at the Environ website it stated that the cream has “essential antioxidants, titanium dioxide, beta-carotene and vitamins C and E to help fight free radicals”. All of these aid in the protection of your skin but also help the condition of it too.
One of the biggest benefits of this product over other sun creams I’ve tried is the smallest amount goes a long way! I use about half a 5p drop every day and I’ve barely made a dent in my tube.
Unfortunately, I’ve not got a before and after photo as it wasn’t something I was expecting to get such great results from. I’d highly recommend giving it a go, especially if you’re someone who is conscious of helping slow the ageing process.
